The Murder of History by KK Aziz is a comprehensive critical analysis of textbooks used for teaching Pakistan Studies & Social Studies in Pakistan. He is a historian and has sought to point out all errors related to history in these books. The author begins by jotting down a long list of errors that he has observed in books being taught in different classes. The errors, omissions, and factual inaccuracies raise serious questions about the quality & scope of content being taught to the students. He then dedicates an entire chapter for pointing out the actual/accurate historical facts. In the third and fourth chapters, he discusses in great detail the possible motivations of textbook boards and authors in distorting history as well as the diverse consequences of the material on the students and adults and how this shapes our historical understanding as well as the political & cultural understanding of the public.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a comprehensive treatment of the subject.
