Hanif Ramay is not new name for the generation who witnessed the events and political history of Pakistan in mid 70s. He was appointed as Chief minister of Punjab by Z. A. Bhutto while Mustafa Khar was the governor. They were two personalities poles apart. Ramay sahib has always been an intellectual and related to journalism and writing. This book "DUBB E AKBAR" (the north star) is the travelogue of his ideological and study travels while he confined himself to Quetta for a couple of years in 1960's. Its a beautiful compilation of his thought process during that study/observation period in which he took guidance from the Holy Quran. He repeatedly narrates its chapters and verses in this book which is a great publication by Sang e meel publications. Its a 120 page book with superb presentation, good paper and composition coupled with durable binding.
The book is divided into these chapters:
1. Faith
2. The hope of Islam
3. Birth of art
4. Origin of art
5. Artist and the society
6. The cow of magician Samri
7. We, peace and war.
The last chapter is an eye opener as during 1961-63 Ramay sahib concluded that the West sided with India to create the problem of Kashmir intentionally and that a time may come in future when Afganistan and Pakistan may join hands and can rule the entire sub continent. Its a worth reading book for the lovers of Urdu. Highly recommended.
