Band Darwaza by Dr. Humayun is a captivating collection of Urdu short stories that masterfully blend suspense, psychological depth, and human emotions. Each story in the book leaves a lasting impression, but Daagh stood out as particularly powerful, weaving a haunting narrative that lingers in the mind long after reading. Dr. Humayun’s storytelling is both evocative and immersive, painting vivid scenes with his words while exploring the complexities of human nature. The book as a whole is a testament to his skill in crafting gripping tales that keep the reader engaged from start to finish.
This book has combination of short stories written in classic Urdu and modern prose. I think this book deserves a salute that it has attempted to revive the classics language. The Story "Sandooq" has an unexpected twist and Narmala is about the current politics but cleverly crafted in 1937. I liked the "sarkar baname Khar, funny story. Humayun Sahib has a diverse approach to life I think (he is a physician somewhere in England) and that is visible amply in his writing. Well done sir. Karachi is proud of you that you write about Pak and Urdu speaking community as well.
It is amazing to see such excellent quality literature. The first book " Pas e deewar" brilliant and this one is even better.
Delightful !
