Postcards - From Faiz - Conversations with my father by Moneeza Hashmi

To Ali Hashmi
Lahore
From Tunis
14-9

Dear Ali,
We are now in Tunis. It is a very small country but its history is very extensive and interesting. The Greeks, the Arabs, the Spaniards, the French all have left behind ancient buildings like this famous city of Carthage which was destroyed by the Romans. The country has made considerable progress after liberation from France. There are numerous upper end hotels and very splendid bungalows. We are putting up with a friend, Moeen, in one such bungalow. Am looking for presents for you.

Lots of love,
Nana
